'Tis better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than open one's mouth and remove all doubt.- Samuel Johnson -
Sometimes its better to refrain from saying anything when what you have to say is of no intelligence. People might THINK you are a fool for not speaking up, but its better than having them confirm it as fact because of what you say. If you don't say anything, they have no way of validate your foolishness.
A fool must now and then be right by chance.-William Cowper -
Even unintelligent people will be right once in awhile because its hard to be wrong constantly. So just because someone said something accurate does not mean they are no fool. It may just be that they have gotten something right by chance. You cannot judge without observing them in many other situations.
A pseudo-intellectual is a person who knows what "pseudo" means.-Unknown -
Basically you should know what you're calling yourself. Just because the word intellectual is in the phrase does not indicate that you are knowledgeable. Pseudo actually means bogus, false, insincere; but when you label yourself a pseudo-intellectual mistaking it for praise, you really are pseudo.
